Bird in flight

    Hi,

I was out with my cramera this evening had a go at taking pics of a herring gull or a seagull in flight.

These were taken with a 18-55mm lens and I have croped them the 4 pics below are of the same bird (gull) as it passed in order

I think there is a bit of noies in the pics as well

Please tell me what you think.

    Hi Tony,
To be honest they are out of focus, but this could be because they are severely cropped. 18-55mm is a bit short for most bird photos unless they are very tame. On the plus side though the important parts of the bird are well lit by the sun. Its hard to get a well lit underside unless the bird banks in the right direction. A common problem with flight shots is that one win almost invariably casts a shadow. Its a good effort though and gulls are good to practice on as they can be slow fliers. Next time try and leave some space in your composition for the bird to ‘fly into’ i.e some empty space in front of the bird. It will improve the photo greatly. Hope this helps.
