Bitter Sweet

First real attempt at shooting some food, with another reason in mind though it has to be said….
c&c always welcomed, yet feared in the same breath
randomwayMemberIt has a strange effect on me… I can’t help to imagine how lemon and lime would taste with honey …
The lighting seems to be good, but the posterization looks strange… is that from the post processing? I mean, the large blown patches on the top and the right edge..
Maybe the honey could be closer to the camera to be closer proportionately to the size of the leomns…

DenverDollParticipantHi Pete~~
I feel sort of the way that Randomway does..
I feel like there is some sort of inside secret here…why honey drizzled over lemons and limes? You have me very curious now~~
It’s interesting but it is a bit disproportionate. The whole shot seems too far in the distance to get much detail from it.
I think it would look more exotic if you also had coated some of the fruit in the glossy honey already..actually maybe you already did..but it’s not evident enough.
It’s a very cool idea…I like it a lot!
PeteWMemberThanks, this was a take on juxtaposition, as in contrasting tastes….bitter sweet…. wasn’t sure it worked myself so didn’t enter it in the compo. Wanted to reserve comment until after voting on the round had closed in case it caused any controversy (what ? on PI forums ? Surely not).
Randomway, the posterization I think came from the blown highlights. It was taken with an abundance of natural light in a conservatory, against a white backdrop and some fill in flash so I think that combined with the PP and jpeg reduction ended up causing this blotchiness (sp?)
mr enjoiParticipanti like the honey on the top half of the photo. thats great in itself.
the honey on the lime makes it look weird…… maybe cause i’ve never heard/seen honey on limes! lol
