The Hooker is a lovely boat-
but there are a few things in this picture that take away from it-
all of them outside of your control-
The modern boats, moored, don’t help,
the distance, and the relatively flat lighting, and flat calm, don’t really add too much either-
Were the sails really black,
or is it a silhouette and a green filter?
These are lovely boats, great to see them powered up, and under full sail,
and a picture at this distance can work-
I’m just not too sure that this is the one…
If you had been able to exclude the glass boats it might have worked better,
might have made the old boat the main focus of attention-
I had meant to comment on this when I first saw it but
for some reason I neglected to do so.
I thought the hooker was a little lost in it’s surroundings.
But as Jospeph said the light conditions, as I well know, were not
exactly prime for dramatic pictures.
I suppose like me you had to make do with things as they were.
