Black Vine Weevil

I found this Weevil in the garden yesterday. He wouldn’t stop walking so brought him in to get a better shot. I believe its a Black Vine Weevil – Otiorhynchus sulcatus (Fabricius)

The detail in these pictures is only fantastic. The bug is yuck though!!!!!

My mother used to kill me for saving these…..serious garden pest :lol: I love Weevils, they remind me of Clangers!

I found this in the mothers garden, She was disgusted when she knew I let it free….. :)

What’s the white material the weevil is walking on in #2, please? It seems to be a different scale.

Thank you, Oshead. It loooked like some knitted or woven material, and I couldn’t rationalize that with the size of the weevil.

I’d say about 1cm long.
