AlessiaParticipant
Sorry, I’m italian and I don’t have a precise knowledge of your political background but….. this looks to me like going back to Middle Ages!!!!!!!!!!
Did I misunderstand? If I want to worship a cow, Gardai are allowed to bring me in jail??Please , I’d like to know what do you think…
Cheers
a.P.S.
If someone is wondering… I DO NOT worship cows or any other kind of animals…. :)PeteTheBlokeMemberAlessiaParticipantPeteTheBlokeMemberWell that’s OK then.
In my opinion the law and religion should never be mixed.
I notice there’s a trial without jury clause mentioned there too –
that’s recently been used in Britain. How the state protects its
citizens (subjects), eh?AlessiaParticipantI’m mostly worried about the freedom of speech and expression… this seems to me a big threat to them…

It’s easy to stray away form the principles of liberty and equality. The challenge is to maintain your principles during difficult times.
miki gParticipantI can’t understand how blasphemy can be mixed into a defamation bill. Sorry, but totally lost on that one. If I state that a non existant being doesn’t exist, I am breaking the law?

a sociological one….
If it involves worshipping a cow…maybe it’s a zoological one?

nfl-fanParticipantI love steak, burgers, roast beef… I’ll worship the cow if it was put in front of me 7 days a week.
miki gParticipantI’ll have to tell my daughter I was only kidding about Santa, She might have me sent to prison.
JodyParticipantI’m an atheist, if I say “Jesus Christ” as an expression of frustration, is that blasphemy as seen as I don’t believe?
miki gParticipantI always wondered what Jesus said when he got frustrated.  No I think you’de get away with that. You could always say you were just checking if he would answer.
adrianmatthewsParticipantHi,
I have heard a bit about this new (updated) law……it is quite subjective “If an item causes mass upset, it can be determined as Blasphemy”…….How many people do you have to Pee off before you go to jail!!!
Does anyone remember Tommy Tiernan on the Late Late show…..the amount of complaints received by RTE would suggest that he going straight to jail……Can’t wait to see him on again.
I agree with the previous thread that states Politics & Religion should not go hand in hand.
