One from yesterday – just after the world’s strongest woman comp. If i was to critique it myself i would say it lacks a point of interest…maybe a bit more room to the left. Great depth (….got two ribs removed so i can lick my own bum).. hmm.. anyway..what do you think guys? :D
Alan RossiterParticipantAli doing landscapes??? What’s the world coming to.
Here’s my opinion for what it’s worth. The point of interest in this one for me is the distant hill as that’s where I’m led. The tree and bank to the right can be used to increase the perspective but this is where it may be going pear shaped. If you can boost the contrast in the closer bank and tree and a little dodge/burn you will simulate the depth of the photograph and distance to the hill. A little sharpening across the board and it will improve too. I would also be inclined to dodge/burn the distant hill to make the patchwork fields more of a viewpoint and point of interest and a little on the closer water ripples to again simulate perspective…but what do I know!!

Ali does fine landscapes.
Though I have to say I find this one a little bright on my monitor, right on the verge
of being burned out in spots, though that may just be this particular monitor. I’d need to
look at it again on a different screen.
Regarding the composition I can’t understand why you’ve included the little pebbled
beach section in the bottom right hand corner. I think this would be far more pleasing
to the eye if you cropped that whole section right up to just a fraction away from that first
boulder; just using the scroll bars to see the difference makes it a far more appealing
image and brings all that lovely detail closer to the front edge of the frame.
Just my tuppence ha’penny worth…Rob.
RobertoMemberIt needs adjustments in brightness and contrast.
The composition is good but as Rob said it will improve by removing the beach.MartinParticipantDefinitely as the lads have said up the contrast and remove the beach, did a quick edit in PS myself and i think it really improves the picture
