Now the winds have gone and we have eventually got some better light and the birds have returned to the garden I have been out dusting of the camera.
So here is one from this morning. A little burnt out on the breast feathers but I don’t think enough to ruin the image.
    Shooting info: 1/125th Iso 200 Apeture F8 300mm

I like it, great composition what far were you from the bird? I’ve been trying to photograph one in my garden but no luck so far.

Martin, im shooting at no more than about 9 – 10ft from the subject at 300mm. Small birds like these won’t fill the frame at 300mm unless you get in real close, to be honest at 16ft and 600mm I would be cropping which I dont like doing to often if possible, i hate wasting pixels.
The clean background is easy to get if your subject is closer to the lens than the distance to the background due to the compression you get from telephoto lenses helping to isolate the subjects.

Hope that helps you in some way, feel free to ask about setups etc on anything I post here, im more than happy to share as I learn.
