Blue Tits

    I set up a new feeder down at my family home and plopped myself a few meters from some branches where birds would land to approach and that gave me a clear view.

    I also added some new feed, a seed/mealworm mix. The Coal Tits (who I can’t get a good shot of) went straight to it. In about 2 hours, I think I had 9 different species in the tree.

    I also set up a “site” for when my new dome hide arrives. I stuck some branches into the ground at an angle, near some bushes along the hedgerow. This makes it more appealing to the jumpier ground feeders like Chaffinches, who I also have had problems getting near. I scattered some feed on the ground in front of the branches and sure enough, Coal Tits and Chaffinches came in and landed on the branches. Of course, they were in shade at this time as the sun had set but the location is ready for when my hide arrives.

    is perfect, look forward to even more when your hide is set up!
