Have never got to and would love to do few landscapes in woods with bluebells. i heard yesterday that they are now out( month early) because of the mild winter. Problem is, i dont know anywhere close to where i live in drogheda that there are woods with bluebells in them. was going to head down to jenkinstown woods, Kilkenny. can anyone recommend a location close to drogheda that has them or anyone close to jenkinstown let me know if they are out there( save me a 2 hour drive). Thanks in advance, Sirvad.
shutterbugParticipantI think Rathangan. Killinthomas Woods is a fantastic woods absolutely crammed with
Bluebells, might be a bit closer?? Kildare I think.sirvadMemberJohnBWParticipantmwallParticipantIt might be too far south for you but they will be plentiful in my area, west Co. Waterford, and there is a number of locations to chose from with no access issues.

Know if the bluebells are still plentiful around those woods?
Killinthomas? There were thousands of bluebells there last year, cant see them going
anywhere……….they are supposed to be a bit early this year because of the good
weather, so hard to know if they are in full bloom yet.daveyboyParticipant“It might be too far south for you but they will be plentiful in my area, west Co. Waterford, and there is a number of locations to chose from with no access issues.”

mwallParticipantDave,
I’m approx 15kms from Clonmel, 25kms from Dungarvan, local village Ballymacarbry. Where are you based?
MikedaveyboyParticipantbased in waterford city, workin in clonmel….might bring bring the gear and head over after work tomorrow.where in ballymac?
mwallParticipantDave,
its a bit early yet for this area (Nire Valley), we’re normally a few weeks behind the lower areas, I walked the woods last Saturday and they are just coming up. Probably next week we should get blanket coverage. If you want to check out the area anyway head out the Nire road from Melody’s pub until you reach the Nire Church and any of the birch woods around will be covered. There are specific areas I go to which can be difficult to explain but I am around most of the time so could meet you and show you on map or point you in direction, spin you around, and let you off!
MikecanonballParticipantThis may be a bit further but if you go to Newry and take Warrenpoint road on the left of the dual carriagway is a wee forest and there is usually an abundance of bluebells there mate.
I think you go past the quarry .MartinParticipantcanonball wrote:

I think you go past the quarry .You park your car at the entrance to the quarry. Then walk in a south east direction through the woods towards Warrenpoint and you will see them from what I remember
daveyboyParticipantmwallParticipantDave,
just did a check today and we have about 30% coverage at the moment,
MikeEddieParticipantThere is a good supply in the Botanic Gardens in Dublin, the site is managed and quite open and they will flower a little earlier here. This week Wednesday to be exact they were about 60% out, I’d expect full bloom in about two weeks. There is a forest just outside Newry which might be the nearest to you in Drogheda but dont know exact location.
