A few from Warrenpoint Blues Festival…
mirenda rosenberg (fuji neopan 1600)
cara robinson (digital)
And, a little blues fan :D
Sinead
RobMemberReally really like the first of these, and the second, but the
first really swings it for me…Very retro looking, fabulous tones, and that hand reaching
out of the top of the frame, brilliant timing on your part…Hope you’re going to print that one fairly big…
jb7ParticipantDefinitely the first, like that a lot-
and the second-
The one with the dog is cute too-PeteMcDMemberBeautiful tones in the film pair. Prefer the first.
Seems to be more engagement with the 2 film shots. Perhaps it’s how you feel with the camera? By contrast the digital ones feel ass though they are looking on as an outsider.
Great shots mind. First stands out a mile the more I go back to look at it.
jessthespringerParticipantThanks for the comments…
Rob – I printed it on 11×14 paper, in Lith. Nice, so it is…
Joseph – she was a cute little doggie…
Pete – I think it’s the atmosphere in the first two, they were shot on saturday night,
the others on sunday afternoon, which was a bit more chilled out…So, here are a few of the Lith scans…
First is Neopan 1600, second Delta 3200, and the third Tri-X 400, pushed to 800
Thanks again,
Sinead
MartinParticipantjb7ParticipantThose Lith ones are lovely-
really have to try that-
you’ve convinced me now-GizzoParticipantI guess this is the right place to start a discussion.
since I criticised your very first lith image, I wanted to know more.
well here’s more, 3 prints to look at.
I really like the fist one, but not really convinced on last 2. now probably because they lack contrast..
I like the framing and the out-of-focusness of the last image, but it looks very greenish to me. is this a feature of the lith printing?
I definitely need to study more this technique… thanks for sharing ;)jessthespringerParticipantMartin – Thanks, I was pleased with how they turned out.
Joseph – well, it’s defo worth a go, that’s for sure!
Gigi – The lighting was quite different for the last two, not the same level of contrast,
but, they don’t lack contrast in print, I don’t think anyway, a little bit was lost in the scan,
the scans never seem to look the same as the print.Green, cyan maybe, but again, they are not like that in print, think more,
the tones you’d see in a pint of Guinness…I made these on monday, and had another go yesterday, but the tones I was getting were
quite different, so I stopped after two prints, as I want these to work together, as one piece of work.
That’s one of the things with Lith, every print is a little different. Here’s more…
Thanks again all,
Sinead5faytheParticipantHi Sinead,
Commenting as a musician who likes taking photographs and not
as an expert in the technicalities of lighting and printing I like all
these.Leaving aside the one with the dog they all, to a greater or lesser extent, convey
to me how a musician/singer can get so passionately engaged in their performance. There is passion and concentration.
Some look they have been carried away to somewhere else. The expression of man behind the drum kit with the washboard is priceless.
Ah the power of photography and the dog is a bonus.
Yes I’d be very happy to have all of these in my portfolio.
Very well done.
John.
jessthespringerParticipantJohn, thank you, glad you like them…
I like watching them get into it too, most of these bands are really good,
some of them exceptionally so, as good as you’d see at any festival. It’s a good experience to get close and get absorbed in it all.
That drummer was going for it in every single gig he did, couldn’t help but smile watching him.
Thanks again,
Sinead
aoluainParticipantOOOOOhhhh this is a nice set of images all round.
I mostly prefer those lith scans meself.
As has been mentioned very retro, lovely mood
with the mono.Very well done sinead, great set and I really love the doggie one too.
Alan
jessthespringerParticipantThanks Alan…
I used the Lith prints as part of a Fine Art project I’ve been working on.
Was pleased with how it all turned out. Here’s another wee blues doggie fan for ya…
JMac-2006ParticipantSinead
