I like this image a lot. It’s very raw and suggestive.
Personally, I think a bit of cropping is in order.
You could make two completely different images from cropping this photo two different ways.
You could either crop out a bit of the foreground but personally I would have cropped out a bit of the sky.
I love the foreground and I feel it adds to the image.mgstParticipantCheers James appreciate the the comments and suggestions i had already cropped the the foreground as i felt
there was too much i will have a look at cropping the sky.Mick
5faytheParticipantHi Mick,
I find this a very interesting image to view.
The subject looks likes one with potential.
I like the foreground which I think sets the scene well.
The clouds to the left are nice but the mass of white cloud
to the rhs of the image spoils it a bit for me.Looks like a location that you might visit again.
Well done.
John.
DeeboParticipantVery good shot Mick and I like this crop. The foreground is good as it the bit of breathing room at the top
Looks like a very good location and lots of potential from the graffitti to the broken roof etc..
DeemgstParticipantCheers John and Dee for the comments the area has lots of potential and i have various shots
of this from different angles. I have another shot in mind so will visit again when the light is right.Mick
PitmaticMemberIntersting shot lots to see and take in.
My observations would be that the sky could be controled with a gradient or just selecting it and darkening it maybe? sometimes it works sometimes it looks bad :)
I belive the buildings facades are the focal point and could be a touch brighter maybe :) I notice that there is a slight halo in the sky was this a seletion or did you use a contrast mask?
(this is just my opinion and is not binding :))
Great location :) is that a martello tower?
JMac-2006ParticipantGood composition dont think i’d change anything
As said before if there was more broken cloud rather then the extremes of clear sky to white mass of cloud on either side and if you could bring out some detail on the building itself the brickwork and grafitti
Looks like a great spot to revisit
b318ispParticipantOne of your better shots Mick. My only thought is that the builiding wall is a bit dark – you could lighten it in processing.
mgstParticipantbigalguitarpickerParticipantVery nicely exposed image with detail visible in all areas. Mono images do not have to be bright, in fact photographers who are mostly used to colour can be very surprised to learn just how dark a properly exposed mono image can be.
