Finally got around to processing shots from this year’s Tall Ships Race in Waterford. Like to get some critique on this one please.

    Hi Mark.
i have come back to this picture three times now.
    I really like it.
i love the textures and the tones you got.
i even like the unusual angle you used..

    well done.
    so simple yet eyecatching.
i can also understand why it would not be everybodys cup of tea…
    I like it though… 8)

    Good pic Mark.

Lines, tones, natural vignetting look really well.

What toning have you used – looks like silenium,
    how did you achieve that?

Might look even better for presentation purposes with
a white border and black frame. Cool pic though.

    Hi Mark,

I in the “like this very much” camp too.
I love this type of image and I find the subject, composition and tone very pleasing indeed.

I can’t see anything I would change and I would be very happy if it were mine.

    Well done,

    John.

The shadows are a tad too dark for my liking, but a very nice shot. I love the composition.

Thanks for the suggestions and positive feedback everyone :D
Apart from some basic RAW processing, the effect/toning was achieved by using a PS plug-in called “Virtual Photographer”.
