I was in the pub last night watching the match (great game) and I decided to have a beer that my father always drank, that being a Bass. Now I had tried it before and I always remember the bottles of Bass being lovely so when I asked the Barman for a bottle he said that he had not seen a bottle of bass in years but they had it on tap, so I got a pint of it….and sure enough it was a lovely change from lager.
However the barman and myself got talking and he was mimicing my fathers sentiments aboput a bottle of Bass being one of the nicest beers that was around but he had not seen a bottle of it anywhere in years nor did he know of any pubs that still sold it nor off licenses but he and I both reckoned that it had to exist in bottle form somewhere as it was still being sold on tap.
So my question to you all out there in internet world….do any of you know whereabouts in Dublin I could get my hands on bottles of bass ?
Hi there,
Sweeney’s Off Licence at Harts Corner in phibsborough has an excellent selection of beer. Plus its close to Bertie’s locality so they may stock it to honour him.
I’d be more a Macardles man myself. True though, that while I see Macardles in bottles now and again, I don’t recall seeing Bass for a long time.
