Boxes for storing Mounted Prints
-
markst33Participant
Hi there,
I am wondering does anyone know where I could get a box to store mounted prints. The mounts are 20″ * 16″ so the box would need to easily accommodate this size. Since I joined Malahide Camera Club I have been reintroduced to the pleasure of printing photographs and for the purposes of the monthly competitions they must be mounted, so I need somewhere safe to start storing them as they are starting to (no pun intended) Mount up !!!!
Cheers,
Mark S.
stcstcMemberthe black cases a bunch of the camera clubs use, come from a company in the uk called dragon cases
they are not too expensive, but the shipping costs are bonkers

I can have one made for you to a very high standard in matt black fabric on the outside. You can even have your name debossed on the lid (black on black). It would take about a week to make and would cost approximately €100 for this size (will have to check with my supplier after you provide exact dimensions).
We do this all the time for portfolios.
stcstcMemberthe dragon case ones are not the same thing, they are polypropylene and cost about 25 pounds each
iophotoworksParticipantThanks for the tip Steve!
They seem to be larger boxes more for storage and transport rather than presentation.
That’s not a bad price – I might contact them at some stage.markst33ParticipantThanks Guys. I was up in IKEA yesterday and I got 2 flatpack boxes that hold mount boards of 20*16 easily. I reckon I can fit about 40 mounted prints in each one. They cost €5.99 for the 2. Thry fit under the bed too so handy for storage.
iophotoworksParticipantYou can’t beat IKEA for value!
Just make sure that the plastic used in safe for storage. Some plastics aren’t suitable for this.
Polyester or polypropylene (biaxially oriented) are fine.
Avoid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) as it usually contains plasticizers. These will cause rapid yellowing.
