Bright Field Lighting

First try at bright field lighting technique and tried to be a bit more adventurous than the other flickr images i have seen of just one glass – i went for three together  with what i felt was a good composition. The engraving on the glasses really brings out the effect more.

    tell me what you think.

Looks good Jason, could see it working with five glasses also,
would be interested in the set up you used.

    Thanks guys

Jenny, the setup was quite easy a bit of improvisation and one light. The glasses were on a black kitchen worktop, I had a white sheet (actually a white shirt) hung behind the glasses with my canon flash fired by radio triggers placed behind the shirt (could have used a soft box but i haven’t got around to buying one :) ). On either side of the white i placed two black pieces of cloth (actually pillow cases) to provide the black rim detail on the edges of the glass and etched parts of glass.

Thanks Jason, necessity is the mother of invention :) it turned out very well and
just goes to show you dont need all the “gear” to get good results.

    Hi JMac,

Great shot, brilliant definition on the glass in the foreground. Nice reflection too. I tried some of this lighting myself yesterday. Great fun!

    Well done!

Maybe simplicity is the mother of invention.

I find the shiny countertop reflection distracts from the finely etched glass above.
