Not sure what to make at this one Paul.
The lighting seems harsh, it’s very hazy, there’s little or no detail in the water and the sky and the composition isn’t hugely interesting.
Take the same scene at sunrise, apply softer light, clouds in the sky, detail in the water and it gets better instantly.

Thanks nfl-fan. I wasn’t sure what to make of it myself either, which is why I posted it. I knew the sky was dull, but I never considered the detail in the water. All the same, it looked nice when I was there – I suppose that doesn’t automatically mean something will come across well in photograph. I’ll go back to that spot another time and see if I can do better.
