Taken last night at BPIC Camera Club Studio evening. As usual on such an evening there were quite a lot of people there which restricts the ability to get creative with the lighting. But I have to say Bronagh (a student at Queens) was a complete natural. There is zero processing to this image from RAW, other than an 8% boost in saturation, slight crop and resize for the web. The composition could be better but there is just something about the photo which really appeals to me. To me it is totally natural, very pretty, and her quiet but confident character seems to come through.
    What do you think?

“Expression” Ross… That’s probably what appeals to you :) Your work has really gone up a notch recently, I look forward to your posts.

Thanks Si! Much appreciated. Here is a similar one. I am very pleased with the white balance, which is achived with the use of a grey card from http://www.focusfx.nl which was recommended by the great fashion and portrait photographer Frank Doorhof. http://www.doorhof.nl/int/

These do seem to be a bit of a departure for you Ross-
and you’ve given a few clues why-

There is a lot more personality being shown,
but it doesn’t seem to be exactly focussed-
understandable, if its a group photo session-

I’m not exactly getting the fashion angle-
(though I had to argue my case strongly for the only pic I’ve put in this section myself)

    I’m sure there are more-
maybe I’ll come around as they’re posted?

She’s wearing a nice dress, is that not sufficient for this particular ‘box?’

Maybe this one will bring you round here again……? Yes it has the dreaded gaussian blur overlay but nought else.

You said it all yourself Ross; natural, pretty and confident.

This pretty young lady looks quite a character and I imagine you had a laugh with her.
The images are spot on, and the facial expressions are full of life. I’m no expert on womens clothes (honest) but I do prefer the black dress on her, and may have prefered a stonger colour dress on the firt two. Nice work.
