I really like the sharp contrasts Martin. It suits the sky and mountain detail well
MartinParticipantThanks for the comments all much appreciated
JB7: “Did you do any with lighter skies?” I darkened down the sky in this one think it works better i could reprocess the raw to have a lighter sky and see what it looks like
BM: yea this is a B+W shot. Took a few colour shots also see below,
richiehatch: Yea didn’t want to put a tree or the stream in the pic as i think this is over done for this shot. Shot below with the Blackrock cottage in it which is another classic view of it. Possibly it looked bigger in other shots because the photographers were nearer or else using full frame DSLR, medium or large format cameras with longer focal length wide angles to pull the mountain into the shot more…
Thanks Again all, The above is my favorite but i took the two shots below in colour. Sky is a bit blotchy in them

Nikon D200, Tokina 12-24, B+W polarizer filter
BMParticipantYes, much more dramatic in the original B&W shot.
Love teh colours in teh first colour one. Great weather (no midges yet?).

Weather was super and yes no midges, they were around alright i could see a few of the little f****s, they don’t start biting until May, thank God i was not around until then:-)
Alan RossiterParticipantI’ve looked at the B&W for a while now Martin but I see it as being too harsh. Seeing the colour version I can see how this would be portrayed. It could be my monitor (laptop) giving that impression but strangely I prefer the 2 colour images.
I’m never happy, huh?

nfl-fanParticipantI’m feeling #2 more… the colour, the rocks, the cottage… it’s just a more complete scene for me and a very pleasant one at that. I might even clone out hose Velux windows just to make the cottage more traditional looking.
Really nice work… you jammy git… Norway… Scotland… my car has been broken down this past week, couldn’t even make it down to the WX Posse
wayneleoneMemberI think when you’ve got such a nice image with great compostiion and clarity, it will look good in any format, B+W, colour, toned etc.
The colour version is also excellent but for me, the B+W is my favourite. I’m a bit of an Ansel Adams fan.
I reckon it would look great on canvas. Have you thought about printing it?
RobMemberLovely work again Martin, and difficult for me to choose between
colour and black and white to be honest; they each have their own
appeal, the drama of IR and the lushness of the colour…Rob.
MartinParticipantirishwonkafan: Thanks for the comments, a bit to harsh maybe, i’ll have to do a print to see but i think it should be ok
nfl-fan: The cottage one is nice but i dont think i nailed it, I think in print it would not work so well. Yea those forcan velux windows i’ll try and clone them out or something. Norway, Scotland yea i am a jammy git, great being able to get away, have no kids thats the secret :-)
wayneleone: Thanks Wayne i like the first myself the most, i think on canvas it could work well also, still have those spectre vouchers might buy a can vas with them
Rob: Thanks Rob glad you liked them.
Thanks again all

MikeLParticipantThe B&W is great, Martin. The Glencoe area is really beautiful and well worth a visit. I was there in Jan. Chilly, but an excellent experience. I’ll post a couple of pics when I’ve got them suitably shrunk to size.
