and dent my car on the Great Wall of China before turning around and driving home again…love it
Mick451ParticipantPeteTheBlokeMemberI’d like to help you Mick. Some of your list is your responsibility; I can’t get married
for you (BTW, who is that lady that appears in some of your pictures if she’s not your
wife?) and I can’t give you a year off work; but I can help with the novel.Right, first you need to decide to write it. You have to make the decision. It’s not
enough to say, “I’m going to write a book”, you have to believe it. Then you make
a reasonable assessment of the time required; let’s say that 1 hour a day, 5 days a
week would add 2,000 words; maybe 100,000 words make a novel so it’ll take one year
to write. Now you need to find 1 hour a day when you can get peace and quiet, but you also
need to give up something less important to you. Start with computer gaming, TV,
internet browsing and time-wasting (e.g. in my case, sudoku, crosswords etc.). For
most people it’s easy enough to find an hour but you have to remember to substitute
the hour, not ADD it, because that leads to stress. Then just have the discipline to stick to
your plan.I look forward to reading your book.
Mick451ParticipantPeteTheBlokeMemberI picked on you because one item on your list made a good example Mick.
My point was that we all say we’d like to do things, but inertia often stops
us. I do a bit of painting, and when I actually make the effort and paint something
I really enjoy it, but I usually say, “I’d like to paint more often”, and sit
in front of the computer instead.I’ll give your trip a miss because cars and travel aren’t my thing. Have fun and post
lots of pics for us stay-at-home types :)DenverDollParticipant1.)Know that my son with Asperger’s Syndrome is happy and self sufficient.
