Great shot Noely. I’ve been trying to get a shot of one of these big guys myself. But I just can’t get in close enough. Gonna have to get me a macro lens one of these fine days :D
Definitely not going to catch them with my 50mm prime which hasn’t left the camera since I got it anyway

Noely I have to agree with Robbie Great shot again.
Robbie that forum for your old camera the fuji go to it and look for DCR poison might give a few ideas and save a fortune. I have lost my DCR 250 but a great macro lens.
SodaPS Mark hope its ok to pass this on.
Cheers
SodaExpresbroParticipantCheers for that Carl…I’ll give it a look. Macro lenses are just so damn expensive..would really want to be doing a lot of macro shots to justify it.
Noely FParticipantPeteTheBlokeMemberAnother incredible photo Noely. I thought he was going to fly out of my monitor.

Get a Sigma….not macro but best of both worlds…..and cheap!
Which one would you recommend Noely?
ExpresbroParticipantCarl..looked up that DCR 250..it looks like it can produce pretty sharp shots. Have you used it on the D80?
What are the downsides compared to a dedicated Macro lens? There have to be quite a few considering the massive price difference?
Noely FParticipantThe 70-300 apo dg is always on my camera, I use it for close ups and the bird shots. I know its not the sharpest sometimes
but its quite capable and changes to macro at the flick of a switch :D Cant go wrong for under ?200 :wink:ExpresbroParticipantThanks for that Noely…I’ll look it up :-)
Coming from you that’s a pretty good recommendation imo :-)
