With the mild weather it is good to see these still active though very sluggish. Seen at Boora Parklands in Co. Offaly today 18th October 2009….Mikka

These are excellent Mikka. Haven’t seen any here for a while, it must be milder up in Offaly. :D

Lovely shots. They look like Bombus Bohemicus but it’s a bit hard to tell. If it is then they are just about to go for the year, however for anyone who hasn’t been able to get any shots of Bumble Bees this year, most of the Irish species fly well into November/December so long as we don’t get any serious frost. There’s still time to get some nice shots.

jb7…Thanks for looking in, dof was probably a little shallow on the first, maybe the angle I shot from.

miki g….It was quite mild on Sunday, a lot of insect activity including one really big dragonfly, possibly a hawker, that I just couldn’t keep up with.

The Kew Tour….Thanks for the i.d., it led me on to a very good link, http://www.tcd.ie/Zoology/research/Bees/
