Panorama Bundoran’s main beach by clami79, on Flickr

I’ve being trying to get a panorama shot of this beach, ideally if i get a decent one i would like to print it to keep it in the house.
In this scenario i’ve used 3 landscapes shot and joined them together with photoshop.
The result seems to me like a very long but not tall enough to get a decent print out of it..
Should i have being taken this shots in a portrait mode? or take maybe 6 shots?

    Thanks for any comments

any panos that I’ve done I use the camera in portrait mode and take 5 or 6 shots depending on lenght of area to cover

Some stitching software will stitch multi rows ie 2X3 landscape shots. This would make it less panoramic looking, but would hold a lot of detail in the shot. I have used Serif panorama plus & it worked fine & was free (not sure if it still is).

The second shot is far better,
You might want to have a look at the horizon before you print it.

The second shot shows the problem with stitched panoramas and moving subjects – the surf line shows several discontinuities. For that reason, I think the first shot is better.

    thanks for ur opinions guys…
i think this one will not make to the print room yet ;)
but it’s all helping to get to the perfect one.. i certainly like the result of using portrait mode rather than landscape, now it’s a matter to get a nicer sky (sunrise peraphs) a calmer sea or a point of view that allows me to get the water in just one shot.
will try again and let you know!!

    ciao
