Buying in america – warranty?
-
NAPParticipant
Hi,
Going to NY next month and plan to pop into B&H. Have been doing my homework on cameras and lenses that I would like to purchase and what savings I would make.
The only thing I am worried about is warranties. Can you get such a thing if your camera is bought abroad?
Would love to hear anyone who has purchased from abroad and experience they have had..
Thanks in advance
PS – camera purchase will be Canon 5D with the 24-105IS lens. Lenses and flash will be Canon too
aoluainParticipant[[Hey,
I bought a reconditioned 5D body in from the States about a year ago with about 6000 actuations on.
I didnt come with an original box but a CANON spurious box. When I took it out of the box it was like brand new (I could compare it as my brother had recently
bought a new one here in ireland).
I think everything wearable was replaced like the hotshoe, external panels, base, etc.etc.Few things I was a bit miffed about was the AMERICAN battery charger and the selector dial
on the back panel didnt work properly, in some settings I couldnt adjust the shutter or aperture. It came with a MAC international warranty, so I sent it away to CANON UK and it was sorted in about 3
weeks, a bit of an inconvienence but got there in the end.The camera including inport duty/tax cam to about €2100.00 and the warranty help up so the repair
only cost me the postage to UK.My brothers 5D cost him about €2650 in Dublin after much shopping around and haggling.
My 5D is still going strong approaching 10,000 actuations!
If you cannot afford a new model its well worth considerating especially if it comes with a warranty you can
use!A]]
Above was a reply i used for another post. I am looking at getting a 24mm tilt&shift l lens probably from america.
there is money to be saved and the INTERNATIONAL MAC CAMERA WARRANTY is something to look into.NAPParticipantThanks for this.
I will definately look into that International Warranty – will get hold of B&H and see if they have it with their cameras!ossie13ParticipantNAP wrote:
