Buying on eBay

Does anyone have experience of buying cameras on eBay. Apart from the normal precautions, would you have any advice on how best to handle a deal?
I’ve seen a very nice Pentax 67II kit on which I’d like to bid. The seller has given an indication that he’d consider a straight cash deal but I’m not sure how much I should offer. It’s a camera, three lenses, Lee filters with holder and an aluminium case. He says the camera has had only one previous owner and that it was never used professionally.
The starting bid is £800 Stirling. He doesn’t do returns, by the way.
Thanks.
markcapilitanParticipantI’ve bought expensive lenses before off people on ebay. As long as their feedback seems good & proper I’d have no problem. Sometimes its the only place to get hard to find items, and for a camera system such as the Xpan which I use, the items are always expensive!
IsabellaParticipanti would always be hesitant of cash deal unless you’re going to meet them in person and see and get the goods. i’ve bought some expensive things off ebay but always use paypal, at least that way you’ve some comeback if the thing doesn’t arrive etc. I’m always mistrustful though
MartinParticipantId only ever pay cash if they have near 100% feedback and i have bought off them before a few times…. I have only every had one problem with a purchase on ebay. The seller refused to give me my money back for a broken camera back that i paid 300 euro for. I went through the complaintd process and paypal refunded my money, if i had of payed cash i wouldnt have got my money back…..

senodMemberThanks for the replies everyone.
There’s no percentage feedback listed for the seller, although that’s because he hasn’t had enough reviews yet. He seems to have sold only clothing items and at a small price. He’s sold one camera. The photos of the kit are good and obviously took time and effort to do. Payment is through PayPal.
I’m not so sure about it now though…
