Would there be enough interest in PI for an advanced printing workshop in 2007?
I’m thinking if there was maybe 6 of us we could try arrange Les McClean or Tim Rudman etc and use the darkrooms in The Gallery of Photography, Temple Bar.
Any interest? Or suggestions?
[Mark, any hope of making this sticky?]
thomasMemberfintan,i would be very interested
i used to print, and i miss it..a workshop in the future with McClean or Rudman
would be great.joolsveerParticipantLoGillParticipantDefinately be interested – have to go shoot me some film :) but count me in :D

I assume that there would be some prerequisites such as having some level of printing experience
at some stage ?thefizzParticipantMark wrote:

at some stage ?I agree, to get the most out of these guys, a good basic knowledge of darkroom work would be required.
Any idea of cost Fintan?
Peter
AimeeParticipantI would be very interested too.. I had applied to do the DIT course on Sats but it was cancelled last minute :(
I’ve done the Temple Bar intro course so have a basic knowledge…but i suppos eit also depends on the cost.EddieParticipantGood idea. Dublin Camera Club have good darkrooms and a joint venture with them might be worth considering if Gallery of Photography is too expensive. Either way i’d be happy to come on board.

Yes I would be looking to do an advanced workshop. Theres a couple around that cater for beginners and intermediate printers, so I would be thinking of Lith Printing with Tim Rudman and maybe split grade printing with graded papers, flashing, different developer concentrations / time techniques with Les McClean. I tried to get one off the ground years ago with Les McClean but a row broke up over the day :(
I’d like to leave the thread run to see who is interested. I’ll then contact ye all to see what kindof budget you have in mind, what day of the week is preferred and then contact these gurus and move forward.
DCC’s darkroom is a good idea. Thanks for that, I’ve only been in TGOP darkroom so I know you could cater for 6 people. But I’ll keep this in mind also.
So anyone else interested?
Paul HParticipantCount me in – especially interested in lith printing. Are you going to arrange for a weekend day, or is it likely to be during the week? Weekends are difficult for me as I am involved in Boys’ football coaching but with sufficient notice I might be able to arrange cover.

Thanks Paul, most likely the day will be to suit the tutor and the least cost. I’ll be back to you on it.
FintanParticipantOK folks, I have been onto Tim Rudman and it looks promising for a lith printing demo and workshop, in Dublin city centre.
I have to iron out a lot of detail but based on 6 partcipants for 1 day, I think I can do it for ?150 to ?200 each.
How does that tie in with peoples budgets? I’ll sell a lens and do it on my own if I have to but I’d rather organise several workshops for us all.
Please post your views on the price, then we’ll try to fill in more of the blanks like the day/date etc.
EddieParticipantFintan
150 euro sounds good, 200 at a push. Would you consider going outside the forum to make up numbers if necessary.
FintanParticipantThanks Eddie, can everyone else please chime in. If you think its too expensive please say so.
I will look outside the forum if necessary but not for the moment.

I could come up with the money but it is a fair while since I printed my own photos – say 15 years as my enlarger is in the attic that long. Would I need to be more up to speed to derive benefit from the session?
