Cahergal Ringfort Try

  • Actually this image was planed for colour but that day was very strange and the colours horrible. so i decided for B&W, infrared conversion. I know that the sky would need more space, i have no idea why i didn’t lift the camera  My favorite corner are the cattles on radioactiv gras ( ; Not sure if I tried too hard to “save” the image instead of sending it directly to the bin. I am sure you will let me know.

Sorry I don’t think it works, my eye is just drawn to looking at the wall. There is no real point of interest and having the left of the fort cut of makes it look unbalanced.

It’s the presentation size again… I’m afraid I will have to see these printed large at your upcoming exhibition ;)

Maybe a little bit more room on the left would have been good? It’s not easy photographing something of this size without going up with a helicopter.
    Good work.

I can see why you tried to save this. looks a superb place with a lot of potential.
Just feel the size of the displayed image is letting this down and some head room. I reckon seeing this bigger at full size would do it more justice. The brickwork in the middle gets a little bit lost and
hard to see , maybe some burning in will sort this out
    Cheers, Dee

Yes i agree with all of you … sometimes it is hard to get a distance for an image…and feedback is good to get that. i think i will shoot it again. Thanks a lot folks!

The position of your watermark makes it look more like an advert than anything else!

Hi Robert, I understand you concerns but all this image “sharing” for blogs, website….since flickr….is not my business and people forget what “copyright” means. That is the best compromise i’ve figured out for my work.

Yes, I know what you mean — I only meant that with this particular pic, that you could almost use it as your advert because of the position
of the watermark on it — and I couldn’t think of anything more to say that the others hadn’t already said.

    Hi Madeline,

Your title . . . ‘Cahergal Ringfort’ is interesting! more on that in just a bit.

You only have half of it, I know you were standing on the wall but more image to the bottom and indeed more
    all around would be great.

Again your technique is fab and the mono tone really works, it is just the space . . .

Oh yea, my first house which my brother owns now is in a place called
cahergal it means ‘Bright Fort’ or ‘Light fort’ and in the field behind the house
is an ancient ringfort. I assume there are a lot of places called Cahergal !

    Robert ( ;

Alan: as far as i know they named this cahergal, i am sure that the human species use this wonderful translation for other places as well. thanks for the story, i will include this in my next blogpost.

Anyway…the b&w looks interesting but the compo just doesn’t work at all. i took this image few years ago, so thought i will give it a try. You all need a good way to archive your images. I am close to wreak out because i have to prepaer all printfiles for my book and my old files are so messy….that means more hours in front of the digital sun  … but i love it 8)

What an amazing day it was…paddy’s day with the first spring sun…i hope you all were busy with nature.

I do not think it is one of your best, but I do like it. When is your exhibition and where?

Hi sean, no exhibition … working on my book
