Calibrating your computer to view photos????

    hi all,

    i have read a couple of posts where they mention their computer is either calibrated or not for viewing pics. now i understand why but don’t know how? can anyone help?

    If you have Photoshop on Windoze, it adds a file to your control panel called Adobe Gamma.
    Double click this and it’ll take you through a step by step process.

    If you need a pro job, then buy a calibration tool. There’s one called Spyder –

    thanks for the info pete. i have photoshop elements at home so i will give it a try at home. probably should calibrate my work computer as well because we view album artwork for print all the time.

    I have the colourvision datacolor device and it does a trmendous job.
    Juts a point to remember though. You need to be able to match your printing device to it to get best results.
    There is no point in calibrating you monitor if the printer does not know that it has been calibrated.

    Just some food for thought.

    I use the Spyder. Really good, matches Jessops prints well. I think it’s about ?60 in the UK. WarehouseExpress do it. I find that Adobe Gamma wizard is way off and no substitute for a proper calibrating device.
