Camera cleaning

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone knows where I could get the sensor of my camera cleaned? I am seeing dust spots on my pics (assuming it’s the sensor that needs cleaning).
I’m based in County Louth.

brendancullenParticipantHi Paul – This is a routine task that you can easily carry out yourself.
I tried a few different types of swabs, blowers etc – but the ONLY one that worked for me was this excellent product.
The swabs come in 3 sizes – 1.3, 1.6 (APS-c) and 1.0 (full frame) – so buy the correct one for your sensor type.
It’s a pretty safe & straight forward process – just make sure your battery is 100% charged…and you do it in a room that hasn’t been used in a day – so there is no dust in the air.
Take a picture of a blue sky at f/22 before your start, look at it in an image viewer – and then again after a clean to see have the spots been cleared.
Start by using the “clean sensor manually’ option in the menus.
Here is one of many youtube tutorials on how to do it.

MurchuParticipantQuite a timely thread, I need to clean the sensors of both my dslr’s, and hopefully this will do the trick :)
MartinParticipantAs the guys said its easy enough to do yourself, you don’t actually clean the sensor its a peice of glass that sits over it… I have used the eclipse kits which work great…. Anyhow I see your from Co Louth, you could check with Maher’s chemist in Drogheda, they can possibly do it for you.
pauloconParticipantThanks for that guys, might give it a shot myself.
Martin, someone on boards also mentioned Mahers as a possibility so if I’m not feeling brave enough, might drop it in there!
Right pain in the moment having to clone out the dust shadows from my images!
johnnypanicParticipantBefore going and getting the sensor professional cleaned (or doing it yourself), lock the mirror up, then holding the camera downwards give it a few blows with a good rocket blower. Many times, this is enough and no need to directly clean the sensor (wet or dry method).
