Was out tonight after badgers again, that KitKat advert with the Pandas from years ago keeps coming to mind. I was up 40 foot in an ash tree for 3 feckin hours and not a sign of a badger, just bloody mice stealing my peanuts from under the rock :?
Would have looked great with a Badger in it

Maybe that’s not a badger sett at all that you’ve been steaking out, just a REALLY REALLY big mouse hole!

Your lighting looks spot on John . Remember, stick at it, good things always come to those who wait.

I was thinking the exact same thing myself. Whats this they say, “the best laid plans of mice and men”

That was night 5 and three weeks of feeding everyday, starting to crack up now. Going to give it two more tries in this area and then its time to move on i think.

The lighting does look great. The third flash really makes a difference. I got my guy to look up last night (barely). I’ll post him tonight. You’ll just have to stick with it, John. Once you are sure the setts are active they just have to appear! I really got lucky with mine, I was giving myself til September to get a shot. All my entrances are in deep cover and I couldn’t possibly get a shot of a badger emerging until the winter when the brambles have died back.

The mouse looks great. You have the lighting spot on now. When you do get the shot you want I’d say it’ll be a cracker. ps Don’t fall out of the tree with excitement.

John, a quick question for you in relation to your setup. How far away is the tree from the sett?

The tree i’m in is about 30 feet from the sett but i’m up about 35-40 feet up. (I’m a qualified tree climber so don’t try this at home folks :) ) I don’t think it is an issue, there is no way they are scenting me now. I have had badgers within 6 feet of me in the right wind at a different sett a couple of months ago.
