I’ll be blunt, cos my meds are kicking in.

The facial expression of the girl on the right is a big negative, the shutter speed was a bit slow too, which is why its soft, and the white balance is off colour too.

I dont mean to be rude btw, but if this was one of mine, I don’t think it would have made it off camera before it went in the bin.

    Sorry :(

    Hi sgt,

    Thanks for the constructive feedback.

The image is a little soft – I agree. I kind of thought that it suited the picture itself though. I could have upped the film speed but I prefer the softer look with reduced noise. Obviously shooting at a wider aperature would have been ideal to get me a sharper outcome but sometimes soft is nice with portraits and candids, I find, plus I really wanted to capture the moment before it passed.

With the shot being candid and not posed I couldn’t really do much about the girls expressions – I really wanted to catch them as natural as possible.

You’re right about the white balance looking off in this image. I had it set to auto but with the colour of the walls plus lamps in that room it can be very tricky to get it right .. Ah well – sure it’s all good fun anyway.

    Cheers,

While the picture is too soft and white balance is off I find nothing wrong with the girls expression whatsoever.

try unsharp mask with amount = 50%, radius=0.8 pixels, threshold= 0 and this image is a whole lot better, assuming u edit the res u attached, if you are editing the original, try 100%, 6, 0 for the 3 settings…..
