Canon 24-105mm f4 IS L USM Lens

    Hi All,

I was contemplating getting the Canon 24-105mm f4 IS L USM Lens for my 400d and was wondering if anyone has used this lens before?

I take a lot of portraits of the kids but like the wider end too for landscapes and stuff…

Also, I bought my camera from Digital Rev in Hong Kong and am tempted to get the lens there too…they are cheap and highly professional…I was wondering if anyone has any “Nightmares” about them?

Can’t comment on the lens, but I used Digital Rev aka HKSupplies (I believe) before
Xmas – 3 times and had no issues. Will go again in a few weeks for a Nikon 12-24mm.

Don’t forget about the conversion factor (1.6X).
This lens on the Canon 400D will be a 38-165mm

I know that this lens’s reputation is second to none so I have to ask you do you have a wideangle? If so the 28-135 IS might be a cheaper alternative. Its not as wide, its not as bright, its not as good in the IS department, its not quite as sharp, it doesnt have L construction, its not as contrasty and it doesnt come with a hood but it is a whole lot cheaper.

    Carlos.
