This all-purpose lens should not be confused with the newer and inferior f4-5.6 version.
This lens is far closer in quality to the 24-105 L, than that poor quality lens.
This is the Macro version with a 7 Blade aperture for superior Bokeh.
It features a Metal mount. Ring USM as opposed to micro USM. With a metal zoom chassis. Which means it features full-time manual focussing.
A great lens for taking travelling or for those days when carrying a bunch of primes seems like a pain. Quality optics but lightweight.
Includes both end caps and lens hood
