-
deboyParticipant
Not rubbing salt in to the wounds but I have 3 reservations order numbers for this lens available in Cork City if anyone wants them. Available until 19/20 November 2007.
As I am a newbie here and I presume its a forum for helping out other people I would take it the Adm Mark wouldnt mind this. If you disagree with this post you can deleate it.MarkKeymasterdeboy,
Best is to place a post in the Lense forum as this is a for sale post for Ross’s lens.
thanks
MarkderrycityParticipantwhy all the big hype on this lens ,, i think the sigma ex dg lens are very good, is this lens close to the l series or is it just good value they can also be found on ebay for around the price
aoluainParticipantHey everyone,
1 up for the consumer !!
happy snapping.
In the end i didnt go for it im holding out for a 28-70 f2.8 L.
Alan
RavenAshMemberThanks Aoluain for the heads up on that lenes.
Got mine yesterday no problem, still at 289.99. :DcarpedeumParticipantThe Argos website doesn’t give the full spec. Can you confirm to this old dog for the hard road that this lens is the Canon 28-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM?
If it is, Berminghams are quoting ?499 and a site in Hong Kong is quoting ?388. I am thinking of getting it from Argos to add to the family lens stock as my Sigma 17-70 walkabout lens is going walkabout… two Canon DSLR’s on site!
derrycityParticipantyes it is the real macoy got mine 2 weeks at argos letterkenny and well pleased with just had to get a 72mm uv filter and a lens hood to make it complete
carpedeumParticipantHi Phil,
Many thanks for the quick reply.
I’m going to order it from Argos and sneak it in under SWMBO’s radar as Santa crashlands!
Steve
RavenAshMemberCarpedeum,
Just to confirm, Yes is the answer. That’s what it said on the box when I got it “Canon 28-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM”
Good luck in the purchase.derrycity wrote:

In the same boat myself going to try Pixmania after christmas. :)
SanderMemberjust a little question, is this really a good lens? i read a review here http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/canon_28135_3556_is/index.htm and it doesnt seem to be that super? i know nothing about this kinda stuff so if someone could point out the strenghts and weaknesses please :D
stcstcMemberits an ok lens
its not the sharpest, but not bad
the big thing about it is that is about half the price in argos that it is anywhere else
SanderMemberah ok thanks, im still looking for a good lens, just a “first lens” thing you know :) that is still good cant seem to make up my mind
MikkaParticipantCanon and the retailers value this lens at 500 – 599 euro depending on where you buy. If you can get it for nearly half of that price (as I did in Argos) I would consider it a good buy as a first lens. I tend to use http://www.the-digital-picture.com/ as a good guide to Canon equipment, and here it is given a favourible review…Mikka
carpedeumParticipantI finally got the lens from Argos on Christmas Eve. No complaints so far, though will give it a full test hill walking next week.
We have a couple of Canon 350’s in the house. For ?289, it’s a bargain and this lens suits us perfectly, epecially when being shared by me and my teenagers.
Here’s another good review..
