I want one now!
ThorstenMemberI want one too! But I’m waiting at least six months after initial release date by which time it will have dropped somewhat in price and any bugs or other glitches will have come to light and been addressed. In the meantime, I’m going to keep a close eye on 5D prices and perhaps snap up one of those as a used bargain!
nfl-fanParticipantLet’s wait and see what the reviews say… I’d be hoping for something along the lines of:
* Image Quality exceeds the 5D Mark I
* Performance at High ISO matches if not exceeds Nikon D3Thought they might integrate the grip into the body… but nope… there’s a new grip for it… so more €€€ for that
The HD video capabilities… anyone see any interesting or good use for that?

Dead right, Thorston. let the bugs be taken out first and the 5D is still a great machine if you get your hands on one.
ssheridanMemberHi all,
Specs look great. I would be really interested to see how it handles noise at mid to high ISO with all of those pixels crammed on to the sensor.
nfl-fanParticipantSome sample shots at very high ISOs posted here:

randomwayMemberWhat’s the point in using a 21Mp camera at iso 3200 and above? There doesn’t seem to be more detail in these pictures than on my Nikon D200 at iso400… the colours look much better of course. These samples only look good when downsized in my opinion.
On the other hand, a high-res body supposed to be targeted at studio photographers, who would use the lowest iso range… there we will probably see some benefits from the resolution.
nfl-fanParticipantZoltan… calling a spade a spade as always!
I think (well I’d imagine cos I’ve never been in a position to try it) that beyond 1600 you’re really pushing it ISO wise… but it is nice to have a body you know can deliver the goods in poor lighting conditions.
I think you can switch the 5D Mark II to 10mp RAW format as well.. or something along those lines.
Here’s one downsized to 1024 pixels taken at ISO3200… looks pretty good methinks:

There’s some more shots on this guy’s photo stream.
randomwayMemberI am not saying that it’s a bad camera, not at all, it looks great, but I would prefer seeing landscapes or well lit models… but I am still not convinced that serious landscape or studio photographers will want a 35mm camera.
The biggest surprize I think is it’s price…

Hmm, what’s a “serious” landscape or studio photographer? I would have thought David Noton was a “serious” landscape photographer and his DVD features him using a 35mm camera. Similarly, I would consider Jack Rezniki a “serious” studio photographer and he uses a 35mm camera too! So, I’m a little confused by your comment.
nfl-fanParticipantBeing honest.. I found it a bit strange as well Zoltan.
I was under the distinct impression that a lot of top pros hold the current 5D in high regard?

I don’t think this is good comparison, different angles, raw/jpg, I think we have to wait for better tests! There might be other settings on each camera affecting the final result.
