Canon 5d mk iii and Sigma 70 – 200 f2.8.

I’ve recently starting using this combination and I feel it’s not as good as I was expecting, I seem to be misfocusing a lot. Just wondering is anyone else using this combination and what do they think. Maybe I need to have the lens serviced but it seems fine on my other camera.

Have you tried changing the AF cases in the AF menu. I don’t have the same camera lens combo, have the 7D Mk II and the Canon 70-200 but last weekend at a motocross event I decided to have a try at changing the AF case and it lead to a big improvement in focus accuracy. It hadn’t been too bad with the default case but I think I set it to Case 3 Instantly focus on subjects suddenly entering AF points and found it better.

Thanks for that, I must check but I’m sure it’s already on AF case 3. Possibly could have changed it unknown to myself, thinking maybe I should upgrade to the canon version of the 70 – 200 f2.8.

Might be no harm to test the AF calibration too. The calibration charts are about €3 on amazon and will check if the lens is taking the right focus point. If not you can fix it using the AF micro-adjust in the camera settings.
