No Bother Padraig,
I would sell you mine but i would just loose too much money on it now, bummer, im kind of
stuck with it now for the money i paid or i would have to take a big hit on it, i would really love
the is version!
A friend of mine has the is version and my brother is just after taking delivery of the 2.8is,
fheckit. . . :(It pays to shop around and try to work out what you are going to be using it for now and possibly
in the futureas said earlier, its kind of like “future proofing your requirements”I have a dilemna now where the 200 is not getting me close enough to the action like surfing,
sticking a 1.4X converter would only givr me 270 i think but a 2X would give a nice 400mm but at acost
of minimum F8, so the 2.8 for that reason would be better, just an example!Alan
b318ispParticipantI too have the F4 non IS. It is my best quality L lens – simple as that. I don’t need the IS on this lens (use it for moving shots or outside work) but, if I had a choice again I’d probably get the IS, but it’s not a show stopper. The 2.8 is out of my price league.
charlotteParticipanti recently got a 70-200 sigma f2.8 and i cannot fault it. I was looking at both lenes you mention, but the canon f2.8 version. It the end my budget went down to the F stop. I would have to say there is alot of canon snobbery going on. Sigma are the biggest lens manufacturer in the world, for a reason i guess.
I agree if i had funds i would have gone for a canon l series but why have an f4 lens when you can get a f2.8
my two cents worth
PadraigParticipantthanks Charlotte,
I have 3 sigma lenses already and can’t fault any of them.
SteveMemberi use the canon 70-200mm f4 aswell and would definately recommend it to anyone, cracker lens. I use it mostly for motorsport and aviation and am yet to find a flaw. For the price you can get them nowadays its a bargain! :)
PadraigParticipantThanks Steve,
I’ve decided to go for the canon 70-200 f4. i’m going to save a little longer and get the IS model. Thanks to everyone who contributed.
