Reports on all the reviews would indicate this (Canon 70-200mm F4 IS )is a quality lens. Has anyone on the forum actually used one or bought one recently.

I have the Non IS version of this lens and it is stunning

Exceptionally quick and no where near as bulky or heavy as the 2.8 version

    I really like it

All the 70-200 range have great reputations. Tack sharp.

I have the 2.8 and it’s the best lens I’ve ever come across. Wouldn’t swap it for any other lens.

I have had the non-IS for about 6 years. Mega sharp, brilliant colours. It’s so much better than the F2.8 version IS and non-IS – which I used for 4 years as f1 photographer. That’s an over-rated over expensive lens. Only useful if you absolutely need F2.8. If you don’t the F4 version is mega. Look at the specs, it has a flourite element the F2.8 version doesn’t.

I have just bought the F4 IS version and am keeping the non-IS I have as well. I won’t get value in selling it. It seems a bit heavier, though not much. I haven’t tested it out yet, maybe this weekend. I’ll let you know how I get on with it.

The f4 IS version has some new glass, and is supposedly the best quality around. Personally, I would buy it over the 2.8.

    Hi
I recently picked mine up in New York Lately and must say its an all round quality lens, super sharpness and quick.I now can handhold down to a 1/15th sec and movement is non existent so great for indoor also.. :D Bought mine for about 1,100 dollars comapred with 1,095 euro here in Dublin. No real need for the 2.8 unless your flush or just need the speed!!
