Canon 7D
-
KenwoodParticipant
Hi folks,
Got the Canon 7D yesterday and really happy with the feel of it etc so far.
One thing puzzles me about the AF on the camera > in my 40D the centre AF lights “red” when either the shutter is half pressed or the AF ON button is pressed – not so on the 7D . Right or wrong ??Denis
sasarMemberbrendancullenParticipantHi – It’s now a little circle on the bottom right of the viewfinder. The AF is now super fast & accurate – you’d hardly even notice it.
You have to go to ‘custom’ function to enable the other AF options. They are disabled by default (daft i know)
To save you trawling through the book – watch these.

KenwoodParticipantHi Brendan, Thanks for that link, very handy…….
Thanx too Sasar…….
Another little quirk……..
I uploaded photos from the 7D to my PC using my card reader and using “Bridge” from Photoshop. The files are quite large. They are .cr2 files but Photoshop won’t open them. Usually when I upload onto my pc the files change and one can see the photo but it tells me “Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document” ????Any ideas anybody??
Denis
stcstcMemberyou need a later version of adobe camera raw. what version of bridge you using?
KenwoodParticipantSteve
ver 4 with CS3 Extended. Photoshop wont look for anything after ver 4.
Denis
brendancullenParticipantHi – you need the latest version of “Adobe Camera RAW” for Photoshop CS3. I think this is the latest version that will work with CS3.

and the Canon RAW codec.
again – i think this is the correct version.

brenKenwoodParticipantThanks Brendan but these aren’t compatable with CS3.
Picasa opens them so will work from there for the momentDenis
brendancullenParticipantHi Ken – i think your right. Thats a shame – as Camera RAW is a very valuble processing tool (white balance etc).
Another option is to install Adobe DNG converter 5.6.
have a look at this post.

brenIOPParticipantDigital Photo Professional (DPP) is very good Raw processing software that came with your camera. You can make all the changes you want to the Raw file there and then send it Transfer it directly to Photoshop.
Bear in mind that Picasa is not letting you access the Raw elements of your file. You’re essentially working with the Jpeg preview,
Dave
KenwoodParticipantThat link worked – using Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter Ver. 5.6 and I can see the .dng files now
Thanks folks for the help > saves a few bob lol
Denis
nealrelicsParticipantIt is very different from the other three and that all the voice and the music is stored on location using only simple, Rode video mic directly connected to the 7D.
