Canon 7D Home or abroad

    Hi

    I am purchasing a 7d in the next week or so. Have a friend in the netherlands who is coming home in a few weeks and can get it through Calumet NL for 1200 euro.
    It will cost me 1499 in Cork with 100 euro cashback from canon so 1399, 200 more expensive than the Netherlands

    Is this a no brainer? If, in the unlikely event, there was an issue it would go back to Canon right so where I purchase it wouldnt matter??

    Thanks

    Im in a very similar position to you , looking to upgrade as far as my limits ( due to monetary issues AND the lenses i already own) will allow . At the moment the 7D is the top choice….but….The other option is wait a week or 2 until after photokina to see what the story is with the new 70D… Digic 5 processor , expected 22 megapixel , probable articulated screen, big improvements in noise…. And back to the semi-professional body of the 50D/70D……it should be around the same price …?!
    also , regarding the 7D , you should “check kerso” on eBay (he’s based in Scotland) think he’s selling 7D’s for about e1000 euros and is well known on the net.

    Once you purchase within the EU, you are covered with Canon Warranty. You’ll just have to bear the cost of postage to Canon yourself, normally the retailer bears the cost. On the plus side you’ll save time posting it direct to Canon.

    I’m also looking for a 7D at the moment and came across the following

    http://www.digiwowo.com/canon-eos-7d-body.html” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;

    Has anybody any experience of them? I’ve seen some good reports and a few bad, but it seems very cheap. It’s currently £980 on Amazon so about €1,150 and Berminghams in Dublin have them for €1,250 including €100 cash back at the moment. Any recommendations would be great!

    Would be nice to do so alright but hard to justify when the price difference is so big. I’m saving the pennies for a 6D which is €1999 in Conn’s or €1300 on procamerashop.
