It has been introduced in pre-digital age but it only means that it´s possible to use it with a full frame camera, unlike EF-S 17-85 or other EF-S lenses.
If it wasn´t suitable for digital cameras, why would Canon sell it in 40D, 50D and 7D kits?So? And on 18- lenses you lose the wide angle you get on 10-22 :) This is a standard zoom, I never said it was a wide angle lens, if you need a wide angle, then buy a wide angle, I´m not going to change your mind, but your reasons are quite weird – when I say that I´m selling a 28-135 then it´s (hopefully) obvious that it won´t be as wide as a 18-XX.
