    Hi There
The 55-250 is an excellent lense and had one just prior to it being robbed whilst in Peru. I now have a Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM that i maybe interested in sellin due to having bought a 100-400mm L series lense. The difference in the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM compared to the 55-250 is it is a better quality of body (metal) & really is excellent at capturing fast moving shots of birds etc
    Extra Info:
The Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM is the replacement for the EF 75-300/4-5.6 IS USM, but the difference is much more than just 5mm at the short end of the range. According to Canon, the new lens uses a low dispersion optical element for better image quality, digitally optimized coatings to lower flare, an improved IS system giving an extra stop of “handholdability” and a panning mode, faster autofocus and a zoom lock at 70mm to prevent “creep”.

Let me know if you would like to discuss if not the 55-250 is also perfect for great price.

All I have right now is the kit lens (18-55), a nifty fifty (50mm f/1.8II). I now need something for ‘zoomability’ and the kit lens let me down at the weekend. So I decided to buy the 55-250mm lens. Also I thought I’d mention, im into ‘Street photography’.

How much are you looking for the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM and where abouts are you? Im kind of on a budget hence why I would like to buy second hand. How old is it and do you have a bow and is it in good condition? PM me if you wish.

If I bought your lens what should I replace my kit lens by?? A 17-85mm?

    Cheers for the reply.

    Hey

Discussed with you over text but just to reply back to the post, the 55-250 is excellent for taking pictures of people on the street and is extremely light for tavelling with. I used this lense whilst in Peru, Ecuador & Bolivia and it was excellent. It will not be the best lense for street photography such as archtecture of buildings, bridges & photography that will require wide lense use. But thumbs up for the 55-250 which is a good overall mid to telephoto RANGE.

    Thx

    Hey djbutsy

Thanks very much for your text there. Thanks also for the info on the lens itself which is useful to me.

But I have been offered a Tamron af 70-300mm F/4-5.6 DI lens for more than half its price and brand new in its original box. So have been thinking of getting that one.

I would have loved to go for the Canon its just price wise the Tamron wins.

Which one would people recommend me to get? :?:

Good Lens if price is what you are seeking..Plastic quality build is ok but just be aware of the AF (Auto Focus) function is very noisey and usually not posssible on alot of these lenses. I still vote by along shot the Canon, save and go for that, its proven and quality and worth the extra 100 Euro *wink*

Enjoy the decision making & let me know how you go with the Tamron if you end up going for it.
