Canon printers on EBAY – free money??

I have a Canon 5200 A4 printer, and it takes 5 different inks. The cost of buying all the 5 inks cartridges is between ?60 and ?70.

However I can buy a new 5200 printer which includes all the ink cartridges for mcuh less than that on Canon outlet on ebay. So for less money, I can re-stock the ink in my printer and have a brand new ip5200 printer to sell/give away/hide under the bed/sit on/smash with a hammer/…….

Where can it go wrong??

I have a feeling that the cartridges you get when you buy a new printer aren’t completely full. I think I remember a test being carried out that had this conclusion. Regardless, a fair bit of ink is wasted from the first set of cartridges used in a new printer in filling the lines, calibrating/lubricating the print head and stuff like that. Of course, I could be completely wrong!

I’ve just spotted this post today – you may have your answer but for every one elses benefit printer suppliers do provide short filled cartridges for the first run. I used to work for a company that made cartridges for a certain 2 lettered sponsor of a F1 GP team and we had 2 types of cartridge per printer – the first buy and the replacement. They gotta make their money somewhere!
