I have a canon macro lenses that needs to be serviced as it refuses to focus (glass lenses seem to be stuck)
does any one have experience of getting a canon lenses fixed/serviced in Ireland and which service center would you recommend also is there a min charge for looking at itnfl-fanParticipantThese guys are the official Canon Service & Repair reps for Ireland:
http://www.imagesupplysystems.ie/
All the contact details are on their website. Give them a call and they should be able to take a look at your lens and give you a quote. They are pretty good to deal with.
paulParticipantISS do SFA with repairs. They ship the majority to Canon UK service centre (as confirmed by Canon). You’re better off contacting Canon UK service centre, and shipping your lens to them.
markcapilitanParticipantAbove post is correct. Just contact Canon UK. You’ll have to look after shipping cost, be prepared to wait sometimes a long time for the repair although you could be lucky and get it back within 2 weeks. They usually contact you with billing before they repair anything.
nfl-fanParticipantLOL… I contacted Canon recently in relation to a repair and they told me to contact ISS.
ThorstenMemberForget Canon Ireland or Canon UK! I’d say your best bet is to try Fixation in the UK. They are an authorised independent Canon Pro Service Centre and although I’ve never used them I’ve only ever heard good things about them.
markcapilitanParticipantI’m not a fan of Fixation Thorsten. When I worked in UK, our agency had nothing but delays/issues with them. Calumet were much better, but again on big jobs, even they just send the stuff to Canon where it gets delayed. I got sand in my 135 a while ago, sent it to Canon UK, had it back within a week & half, that’s with CPS membership where you get priority on repairs though. Contact ISS and see what they say, they might be able to fix it without sending it away.
jb7ParticipantI’ve used Fixation, (a long time ago) and was very impressed-
Admittedly, the repair was to a Nikon-j

If you contact Canon Ireland about repairs, they will send you to ISS.
But, over 90% of the repairs that go in to ISS are simply sent to Canon UK service centre. You end up paying for Canon UK repair, plus an ISS charge, plus the extra delay. Much better to send it directly to Canon UK service centre.
nfl-fanParticipantTo be honest all I know is what I was told by Canon… I called them, I was put through to a UK Call Centre, they gave me a Canon Reference Code and told me to bring it to ISS. I was none the wiser and simply assumed that this was the standard way to do things. The Rep didn’t mention anything about sending it to Canon direct. Turns out it cost me nothing, it was only a tiny fault (a loose spring) and the camera was still under-warranty. I got the camera back in working condition exactly 10 working days later.
