Canon has recently released Digital Photo Professional 3.0.1a and EOS Utility 2.0b for Windows. The download pages in Canon’s Web Self-Service System, as well as the downloads themselves, don’t appear to describe what has been updated.
The Digital Photo Professional 3.0.1a and EOS Utility 2.0b updaters can be downloaded from any of the compatible EOS digital SLR pages on the Canon USA website, including via the EOS 30D product page. Once there, click on Drivers & Downloads, then Drivers / Software, to access the software.
The Mac versions of these applications are unchanged.
Thanks to Ian Musk for bringing this to our attention.
I’m going to try this out tomorrow – I’m hoping that they’ve fixed a small but irritating crash bug with this minor update. It occurs randomly when using the Crop function in the Edit Image view. I found a way to get around it which has actually enhanced my workflow in DPP. My workaround is simply to do any cropping whilst in the thumbnail view.
I just downloaded the update. I see there is a crop tool which I never noticed before – was that there before or is that part of the new update??  Am I right that there is no way to ‘rotate’ the crop tool?
Still no highlight recovery option with DPP!
