Carlingford couple… another for my 50mm project.

RobMemberjb7Participant
em, if I was the happy couple (a difficult concept)
I might be flicking through to see what the next one looked like-
Maybe that’s not the point of this shot, I don’t know,
but they have gone to the trouble of getting all dressed up-Technically very nice, as usual,
but it seems to be taken just as they’re getting ready for the shot-
Formal informal, or the other way around?j
easParticipantNice shot Rob.
I like the contact between the couple and the brides expression. I think the only thing the main thing that would keep this from being a keeper for me is the grooms expression, he looks a touch….
confused maybe?ThorstenMemberI find myself being influenced in my thinking by the comments that have already been made, so I’ll reserve my feedback to a technical elelment. Looks to me like it’s about 1/2 – 2/3 stop underexposed. A little extra expsoure would have helped make this image sparkle, IMHO.
lousyParticipantI like the shot and the composition of the couple to one side
to take in the flowing veil. It’s a fine image technically, but the expressions on both… well thats nothing to do with your 50mm project :wink:Pat
PixelleMemberThe faces a bit dark,
pose, fixing the veil, fine.
gorgeous dress!
The rail, an avoidable [removable ?] distraction.ExpresbroParticipantI suspect that the slightly under exposed faces are a results of exposing to keep detail in the sky, which you’ve done admirably and the fact, as you eloquently put it, this was a “sly” shot and I’m assuming the use of fill flash would have given the game away.
Has it given you the urge to do a full wedding then Rob?
BrickeeParticipantSeems a touch under expossed but I like it.
Your making good progress on your project Rob.Jim
RobMemberMany thanks for all the comments here so far…
To address a couple of them..
Joseph, you old cynic you… I might be flicking through to see the next
one too, but of course that’s not the point of this shot. I mentioned in another
thread that this week is a bit of an experiment for me; one camera, one lens,
no other kit, no tripod, no flash, not even a bag. The shot is of course an
opportunistic one; I wanted to post to as many critique forums as possible in
the space of one week with my limited gear, and ‘Weddings’ was one of those
I didn’t expect to get a shot for, along with ‘Fashion’ and ‘Art Nude’, but the
opportunity presented itself. I didn’t want to get in the way of the official
photographer, so this was just a quick one while she was directing the happy
couple to adopt yet another hackneyed pose. I might have even posted this as
a street candid (if I hadn’t taken it at the harbour…). Informal formal is right
I suppose…It is a little underexposed, I agree, and still looks that way despite some delicate
dodging of the groom’s face. As for his expression, well, unlike me, this is his
first time around; I think that gives him the right to feel a little overwhelmed… ;)Rob.
