Carlow Pine Marten
-
PadraigParticipant
This has been one of the most difficult projects to date. Pine martens are extremely wary and nervous and it has been seven weeks effort to get this shot. I used two flashes on 1/2 and 1/4 power and chose not to light the background because (a) I hadn’t any more flash guns and (b) It was very distracting with lots of vertical saplings. I’d appreciate some constructive comments. Thanks for looking.
1/250 sec, F8, ISO 250.
shutterbugParticipantWell done Padraig, you must be very pleased with this shot. I think the right side of the
background is a little bit eye-pulling but not sure if you darkened it would it look a bit
un-natural? I cant really add anything more other than I would have been delighted with
myself to get a look at one, let alone a photograph of one. :)PadraigParticipantThanks Jenny. The flash wasn’t powerful enough to reach the background and that was the result. It looks a bit like noise but its just the way it was lit. Not much noise at ISO 250. I darkened it but it did look a bit unnatural. Thats why I put the white frame around it, to lift it a bit. I’m not that bothered by it though.
photomanMemberAnother cracker Padraig. Well done, your patience paid off. I took the trip up to Enda early this week but the Pine Marten didn’t show up.
PadraigParticipantphotomanMemberSeaviewParticipantVery nice Padraig, I’d love to see one of these in the Wild. Great result considering how difficult it was, patience paid off big time.
Dave.
PS, Mick you certainly done very well even if you did miss the Pine Martins.
miki gParticipantBrilliant work again Padraig. I would suggest selective blurring of the background which might help to take the noisy look from it. Well done.
PadraigParticipantbrian807Participantwow well done! this is what wildlife photography is about – time effort and results!!
