I took this shot 2nite…. was very dark and cold!!
18mm
ISO 400
F22
10secsSeaviewParticipantThe castle looks great but I think the handrail distracts from the image.
Dave.
tommykelsoMemberHey..
Thanks for the comment :)
I had thought about it being distracting but I rather like the way it leads me in as it nestles within the blackness
clami79Participantits a nice picture but i agree with Dave. You could try to change the colour in photoshop, shouldn’t be too hard…
tommykelsoMemberSeaviewParticipantI agree with you Tommy that it acts as a nice lead in but I think something more natural like a stone wall or path would work better.
Dave.
tommykelsoMemberstevie glennMembervery nice tommy. i like the b~w. nice up there so it is. there is a food place behind the castle called springsteens. is lovely should try it next time if you have never eat in it. me and janice go up all the time.. talking about it is makeing me wanna go up now. lol
tommykelsoMemberCheers stevie
Yeah think I have eaten in there during the summer there…
Gonna go up again when the nights are longer to try and get the sun setting and try and get the other side of the castle as well :)
U up for goin some evening??
stevie glennMemberyes m8 be up for that, here i join the antrim camera club there feel so out off place lol. should come down. starting to find out new tricks from it. and everyone was helpful. was shooting a light studio session last nite didnt have a clue and garth talked me through showed me few we thing about the lighting. and stuff.
vividimagesMemberTommy, the railings here are two strong and modern against the historic look of the castle.
The best shots of the castle that I have seen are all taken from the beach.
Also your image will be degrading at f22, Personally I would go back and try again (with tripod and use mirror up) at f11 Iso 100/200 also as wide on the focal lenght as you can go and focus 1/3rd of the way into the scene, you will find the depth of field will be ample that way and produce a far sharper image especially if you wanted to print large.
Cheers
Gareth
tommykelsoMemberYeah Stevie.. I will come down next week sure. now that I am finishing work earlier it will be a lot better
Gareth, yes I see what you mean regarding modern vs old… I was thinking that the beach would be the best vantage point but it was pitch black and had the kids with me so didn’t venture down.. Definately heading up again. Thanks for the tips on settings too :)
DeeboParticipanti have visited the castle a few times in the evening, its hard to get a good angle, i think you need to shoot from the other side to get some reflections
DeetommykelsoMemberYeah Dee that was my original intention but I got up at just after 6pm and it was pitch black already! Was just too dark as there is no lighting on the castle on the other side….. wish these nights would hurry up and get lighter so I can go shooting after work!!! :)
