    Hi Ciaran,

Fantastic expression, colour, dof and the clarity of the subject is excellent.

I can only assume that you meant to crop the top of his
head but I can’t help noticing it when really my attention
should be 100% on the face.

I would also love to be able to see all the image without having to
    scroll.

    Cheers,

    John.

This is great! I’ve seen it before so not sure if you already posted this or if I just saw it on your site, Ciaran.

Anyway, I really love the subject’s expression, it’s great. The composition is good and I love the colour or toning or whatever the characteristic is. Not sure whether it would improve the image if his head wasn’t cropped. It’s hard to tell, but I suspect the cropping of his head was done at the capture stage rather than in post processing.

One criticism I’d give is that there might be more detail available in his eyes. I can make out what appears to be the reflection of a building there but I don’t if it would be possible to bring out the difference between the iris and the pupil. (I don’t know if I’m naming the parts of the eye correctly but I’m referring to the fact that we can only barely make out that his eyes are brown, they almost look just black). But in saying that I’m not sure if you had a choice about this or if you wanted this.

Great picture anyway. He looks like he ran up towards you and then stopped. He looks fascinated, worried and confused. Nice one.

I absolutely love this image – and am totally drawn in by those gorgeous eyes.

    Stunning.

Great shot Ciaran. The crop works for me as I find myself drawn immediately to the eyes and feel that I am at eye level all the time with your subject. I don’t think it would have had as much visual impact if the complete head was in frame because you would have had to allow more space above and then be more or less forced to present the shot in portrait orientation thus losing that space on the left which works as it is now. My muddled opinion fwiw……….Mikka

I’ve spotted this one before as well.
Still has the same impact – my goodness those eyes.
Well done, a real credit to you.

I hadn’t realised I had posted this before  Apologies.

Thanks for the comments anyway. I’ll watch out for cropping the head next time
