I’m a bit sentimental about this photo because they’re my waens. I’ve done my best with the photoshopping but if it looks different on your screen then the fault is mine and I’m sorry (if you’re in Derry you can call in for a cuppa and see the original negative if you like).
I think what I like best is the bleakness of the whole scene. Something about the emptiness makes me feel shivery. Maybe I’m being fanciful because I like pictures with my kids in :)
I like it too :) and lets face it little bit of sentimentality is never a bad thing…. ;) It does have a cold atmosphere to it , I also like the lines of the field ….. there are some things which could improve the shot – cropping to remove the white sky and maybe placing the kids more to the right of the scene walking accross the photograph. Maybe ??
Lorraine is right.
I hope you don’t mind that I did some quick editing. I tried to do some sharpness as well but the photo will loose the softness of the grass.
Thanks both. I like the edit. I tried to crop it in myself, but lost the emptiness. You’ve come in much tighter and managed to retain the wide feel. Quite a paradox, but an interesting lesson for me.
Anyone could see that these are model figures, posed on a brillo pad with sponge and twigs in the background…thats why its in black and white……..ya cant hide it from me though…I’m on to ya boyo!
