Hi there, I like the series, its a good idea to combine the old & new. By some distance my favourite would be the last, it evokes a lot of chinese icons without being too obvious about it. I would crop the shot though, the right hand of the image is very attractive, but not sure about the wall on top left, the piping coming out (while emblematics of shoddy brick work in China generally) looks a bit out of place. I;d try a crop that takes in the bridge and its reflection. Do you have a colour version? Where was it?
Hope you enjoyed China. I wasn’t in Shanghai or along the east coast, but was in Beijing and thought it was a great city.
Its taken in Suzhou. I know what you mean about the left but I had already cropped from the right and I wanted to keep the reflection at the bottom without making the picture too thin but I will have another bash at the weekend. I do have a colour version, I’ll pop it up at the weekend as well (sorry don’t usually get a chanceto work on the pix during the week.).I didn’t post thecolour version here as the Ta didn’t work well in colour and I decided to leave the two old ones mono then.
You didn’t miss much by not visiting Shanghai, Beijing is by far a more interesting city. Nicer people too.
But the east coast (well inland from the east coast) is great. Anhui and Suzhou offer some beautiful areasif you can get away from the crowds….
